ILLUMINART PROJECT CASE STUDY: QUORN LIGHTS UP

Quorn Lights Up: Flinders Ranges Bush Festival 2009 Projection Art Feature

The Flinders Ranges Bush Festival, in its second year in 2009, invited local artist Cindi Drennan to work with the community to develop a projection art show as a feature of the festival.

Festivals Australia co-funded the project, which occurred during February-May 2009, culminating in lightshows during the festival (23-26 April) and in early May 2009.

Lead artist Cindi Drennan worked with four artists from Quorn - Val Francis, Joy and Daniel Campers, and Liz Collins - to create projection art that wrapped several historic buildings of Quorn with their work. About 120 children from Quorn Area School were also involved, creating artwork on themes and ideas about Quorn, which were also featured in the lightshows.

The project was a success for the festival, creating a new attraction and promoting local artists. Although bad weather caused events to be cancelled or moved indoors on two evenings, the event was attended by local families, tourists and visitors from ohter towns.

It is likely that the event will be held at future Bush Festivals in Quorn.

For further information, demo video, more photographs and specifications and to book Jive-In Theatre for an event contact illuminart.
